The Historic Neighborhood of Redmont

According to The Wealthy Neighborhoods of Birmingham in the Higley 1000 report, there are nine wealthy neighborhoods in Birmingham: two in the city, three in Birmingham’s premier upscale suburb of Mountain Brook, and four gated suburban fortresses.

Redmont Park is named as one of the most “Elegant City Neighborhoods.” Redmont Park, an urban neighborhood right outside the city’s commonly called the “Southside,” was developed in the early 20th Century and has flourished in the last twenty years. Redmont Park has many of Birmingham’s grandest mansions peering down on the city from Red Mountain, a steep 350 foot tall ridge that overlooks the city below. Redmont Park remains very small with a few hundred homes.
